On the 26th of October, the German Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) hosted a European workshop with the aim to promote further dialogue with national actors responsible for patient records in Germany, Switzerland, France, Portugal and Finland.

Named as National Strategies for Making EHR Data Available for Secondary Use in Research, the workshop focused on topics such as data availability, interoperability, international standards, data protection, data security and electronic patient records.

The X-eHealth project was represented by Diogo Martins (SPMS Project Coordinator) whose speech highlighted the goal of building a strong European community both through the development of further EHR specifications and of implementation guides towards the exchange of health data between EU Member States and National e-Health Contact Points.
